Owner of the property needs to file a lien against it for parking/storage or something and then take it over that way. Just selling it is not legal as far as I remember .

Seems sketchy. Seems like the thing to do would be to call a tow company first. I’m sure they would have some sort of protocol to deal with abandoned vehicles.

depends on the state laws, and if it’s owned by a bank or not.
I think in Wi anything left by a tenant is your property after like two months.

They need to file for an abandonment title with the state first. Maine actually has a law covering it. It’s completely and totally legal, but they have to file the paperwork first.

Ok ... I can probably come up with $300 but we’ll need a trailer and more race crew members.

How about parting it out for profit?

good point. parts are reasonably untracable to a point. could certainly get more than the $300 invested.
but SHAAAADY
and, you’d have a shell to be rid of at the end, and salvage yards typically want proof of ownership to let you scrap it

Call friend with big strong truck.
Drag car out to the street with big strong truck.
Wait until it gets towed.

Well they can get inside so presumably they could pop it into n eutral and push it if they didn’t have a friend with a strong truck.

Or get some fast food trays and a light truck. Anything to get it out of the driveway so it becomes someone
else’s
problem. :)

Legal? Depends on the state and the procedures followed. A friend of mine got a Freightliner for a few hundred bucks this way. The owner abandoned it at the repair shop where my friend works. After a year, the owner of the shop told him to get rid of it. So, he called up another friend with a wrecker. The wrecker took the truck to his lot. After 30 days, they filed for a new title, then sold the truck to my friend for the cost of the tow and 30 days storage at a reduced rate. The key was getting the tow company involved.
